My work is representational, expressing warm heartfelt events in my life and others around me. Botanical, ancient historical monuments, foreign landscapes, seascapes. I attempt to visually tell a story of life’s journey from early age to present. Working in water color, acrylic paint with a tight illustrative hand and occasionally using pen and ink. My work is an expression of life’s adventure, and sometimes the torture we as humans must endure. I like to say my work is “warm and fuzzy” however just living is not always that. My process of creation is influenced by past and current events in this world, not always delightful, also including the dark events of our lives.
Clyde J. Kell created and operated an internet radio station for over 18 years, playing nostalgic radio plays. Clyde has always been creative and a visual artist.
With encouragement from his adult daughters, Clyde has taken his art to a professional level, working in a representational style with a tight illustrative hand, water color, pen and ink and acrylic paints.
Clyde creates botanical works, renderings of ancient historical monuments, foreign landscapes, seascapes, and a Pulp Radio Art series inspired by those wonderful dramatic plays of radio’s golden past. Clyde’s religious art series expresses the chiaroscuro technique of Caravaggio.
Clyde's work is an expression of various adventures while traveling around the world during service in the United States Navy. Past illustrators influence Clyde’s creative process, especially James Montgomery Flagg.
You can find Clyde J. Kell’s work at several online platforms.
